First Video Blog Entry
Electric Cars are the Future of Ground Transportation
Written Transcript: Hello world! Patrizio Murdocca here, Chief Web Developer at Drover Rideshare. Over the past two months, I have been running Drover's blog. After watching a TV show that I have really come to like, I had the idea to run a video blog alongside the written blog... so don't worry, you'll keep getting my written blog posts as well. I just wanted to include this because I thought it would be a nice way of connecting with my audience on a more personal level.
Today, I want to talk about traditional gas/fuel engines -- car engines. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing like the sound of turning on a sports car; give me a 1969 Mustang or a 2016 Viper, and I'm set. I am all about that. What I am not about is everyone driving larger-than-life vehicles, the engines of which are literally destroying our environment.
I am coming to you live from Venice, Florida, the beautiful beaches of which I am proud to call my home. It is a well-known fact that gas-powered engines have emissions that contribute to the destruction of our ecosystems. Environments like this are part of the affected areas. I don't know about you, but I want these beaches to survive me. I want my children to be able to enjoy this, and many generations after that.
To this end, Drover Rideshare (upon launch) will offer a designated hailing option within our app where you can request and electric four-passenger vehicle (Drover Green) or electric six-passenger vehicle (Drover Green Giant). It is our way of promoting and endorsing the incredible, green, electric energy that has been pioneered over the last couple of years by companies like Nissan with the Nissan Leaf, Toyota with their hybrid Prius, Chevy with their Volt, and most notably Tesla with their incredible Model S, X, and soon Model 3 (which we are super excited about).
Stay tuned for updates, but this is my public service announcement about the fact that electric vehicles are the future of ground-based transportation. As a closing note, when the car as we know it today was first invented, it was called the horse-less buggy, because they didn't know what to call it! They figured, well, it gets us around, and it is a buggy without a horse... We are at that stage with electric vehicle technology. We are calling them 'electric cars', the same way that today's cars were once called 'horse-less' buggies. However, just as ridiculous as 'horse-less buggies' sounds to describe today's cars, it's the same thing with electric cars.
Electric cars are a whole new breed of machine, and it is the future of ground-based transportation. Here at Drover, we are embracing that fully. Thank you and have a great day!
Welcome to the Drover Video Blog!
Thank you so much for watching/reading our first Drover Video Blog! All Drover video blogs are currently recorded from my cell phone camera (Nexus 6, not iPhone in case you were wondering). Moreover, I will record all of the video blogs in real, natural environments where ever I am! This first entry was recorded at the beach near my home in Venice, Florida. Finally, all Drover video blogs are unscripted, I write the transcript afterwards.
Not all blogs henceforth will include a video, but it is my intention to create as many as possible! My goal in running this video blog is to connect with on a deeper level with as many people as possible. Hope you like it, and feel free to comment your thoughts on the ideas presented -- even if you don't agree! I would love to hear your feedback and have your participation.
My next video blog will be recorded live in another beautiful, natural environment! Come back soon!
